Its been a busy couple of weeks here at Bacn.com.  The launch has been downright crazy and the orders are continuing to come in … thanks one and all!

Bac'n business cards

As with any new venture, you learn a lot when you put it out there.  They are the kind of lessons that you can only learn by “doing it the hard way”. The first one for us was exactly what we were going to sell. We knew a bunch of bacons that we liked and wanted to get out to the world and so we started with those. However, shipping one package of bacon is just plain crazy. At best, you’re talking about $20 just to get a package of bacon to your door which is just a non-starter for most folks.

I was talking with Julie Beeler this past week about her thoughts on the site, etc. and she said “why don’t you at least ship in quantities of 2?” She even came up with the catchy slogan for it: “one for you and one for your freezer”. That’s good stuff and the orders are already showing she was right. Thanks Julie.

Next up was the idea of doing batch packs. We’ve started with Beeler’s and Fletcher’s (the Beeler’s one will add a few more bacons in the coming weeks as our suppliers come on-line) and we’ll even offer a little special treat in each of them. For the Fletcher’s pack, we’re shipping close to 8 lbs of bacon (again, one for you and the rest for your freezer) delivered to your door for $59.99. We’ll see what folks think but we’re excited about this pack. Same goes with the Beeler’s pack.

We’ve also added Broadbent Hams Sun-dried Tomato bacon. Seriously. Its great and a really fun bacon for cooking/wrapping with. We’ll be adding some more bacon suppliers in the coming weeks … is there anything you’d like to see that we aren’t carrying yet? Let us know and we’ll look into it!

Finally, Jason Glaspey got our blog dialed up on WordPress last week … thanks Jason. w00t!

Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thank you
